about

Elantropy is a multidisciplinary artist working across visual art, including installation, painting, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, glass, ceramics, artist books, graphic novels, text, video, sound, and photography. Born in Cill Dara (Kildare), Ireland, she lives and works on Whadjuk Noongar Country in Boorloo (Perth), Australia.

Her practice explores ecological, material and perceptual relationships through site-responsive and process-led forms. Interdisciplinary in approach and guided by philosophy, systems thinking and speculative inquiry, she engages the complex entanglements of place, culture, identity and being alongside more-than-human others within ecological, social and technological systems that shape contemporary experience. She considers how place, environment and cultural memory shape perception, embodied experience and ways of knowing.

Experimental and exploratory, her work moves between order and chaos, structure and intuition, attending to subtle, difficult or overlooked aspects of experience within ecological, social and technological relations. Through experimentation, observation, responsive making, chance and deliberate unknowing, she probes how meaning emerges through interaction, mediation and everyday encounter.

Material processes are central to the work, with installation, painting, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, glass, ceramics, artist books, graphic novels, text, video, sound and photography operating as interconnected fields of practice shaped through reflection, environmental conditions and embodied engagement with place and time. Elements and forms emerge, deform and re-form through these interactions

At these intersections, art for Elantropy is inquiry: thinking in action that reframes how meaning is formed and held. Discoveries arise through attentiveness, chance and process, and creation follows what is noticed rather than imposing pre-conceived outcomes. The work remains open-ended, responsive, relational and perpetually becoming.
